It started with a simple sentence from Rick Velaj, a Doctor from Greenwich, Connecticut - 'I want something a bit special'
When you are a client of Eagle E-Types, something 'a bit special' comes as standard. But conversations started between Rick and Eagle’s Paul Brace, and the word 'Speedster' was mentioned - and everything changed.
Paul got out his pencil and sketched a shape. Rick loved it, and that was the start of Eagle Speedster No.1.
Over the following months, in tandem with running the main Eagle business with Henry, Paul worked to design and perfect the details of this truly unique and extraordinary E-Type. Rick’s desire to be closely involved in the creation of his own bespoke dream was absolutely fulfilled and immense satisfaction was enjoyed by both Paul and Rick as sketches and ideas were turned into reality.
Faithful to the original Jaguar E-Type of the 1960s used as the basis, with classic detail and finishing, it was fitted with the finest Eagle E-Type engineering: the Eagle 4.7 litre engine, our own 5-speed gearbox and optimised suspension being just the start. This car was to be about performance as well as breathtaking looks.
Every detail has been painstakingly designed and executed - from the unique shape of the all aluminium body, formed from our drawings by RS Panels, and the bespoke custom made glass - right through to the unique colour of both the body and the Edelman hide.
This has been a true labour of love and full images of this stunning and most extraordinary motorcar will be revealed soon.
The public debut is at the Salon Privé at the Hurlingham Club on the 22nd July - the Eagle Speedster is ready to fly.
